Danny Jones

Visitation for Mr. Danny Jones will be Monday, June 17, 2019 at Scott's Chapel Hill Mortuary from 12 PM to 2 PM.  Graveside service will take place at Gates of Heaven Cemetery at 3 PM June 17, 2019. 

Danny Paul Jones was born in Dothan, AL on December 5, 1959 to the late R.C. and Fannie Lee Jones (Coleman). He departed this life on June 12, 2019.

He had a passion for community service. He was employed as Community Outreach Coordinator with Dothan Houston County Substance Abuse Partnership. He led the “Operation Awareness” summer program at the Lincoln Center in 1996. The program impacted the lives of many children and parents in the Wiregrass area. He stood in the gap for the many children as a father figure providing guidance & leadership skills. In 2001 he received the “Community Partner Award” from the Houston County Substance Abuse Partnership. He used his past experiences to empower the future generations. He went on to receive his Bachelors Degree in Biblical Studies and Theology in 2008. After receiving his degree he moved to Panama City, FL to start The Potters House Church. 

He was known for his “fun” energy and unforgettable laugh. There was always time for jokes and laughs when he was around. In the last years of his life he spent time traveling and visiting with family.  He had recently moved back from Kentucky while spending the last year and a half with his daughter, Kristie. He loved his family dearly and he will be greatly missed.

He is preceded in death by his father R.C Jones, his mother: Fannie Lee Jones, his sisters: Angela Jones, JoAnn Jones, Shellie “Noon” Jones, and Dorthey Thompson. 

He leaves behind his best friend to the end and love of his life: Mary Jones; two daughters: Kristie (William) Koonce and Martina (Gerald) Casey; one honorary daughter: Summers (John) Grimsley; six GRANDchildren who he loved dearly: William “Little Man” Koonce Jr., Nicholas “Buddy” Awls, Jazmine “Baby Girl” Koonce, Jordan “Buddy” Koonce, Chaz “Buddy” Casey, and Cali “Mama” Casey; three sisters: Annie Jean (Joe) Neal, Linda Jones, Snow Ann (Charles) Carmack; one brother: Theodis Jones. Danny left so many fun and loving memories to cherish with his host of nieces and nephews.
