Sister Creta Davis Saffold Barber was born to Shell and Lizzie Davis on June 1, 1923 in Pansey, Alabama.
She attended and graduated in 1941 from Seminole County High School in Donalsonville, Georgia. Later she met and married the late Bishop O. Saffold and to the union was born four children. Later she met and marred Johnnie B. Barber and three children were added to this union.
When she came back to Dothan in 1959 she was a very active member of New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church until there were health issues. Sunday school was her passion, she was a member of the adult Women’s Class #2, Mary Wilson Mission Circle #2. She participated in many senior citizens actives and Sunday School Seminoles.
Sister Barber was preceded in death by her parents; a brother: Abraham Davis; two sisters: Marvene Jackson and Catherine Riley; one son: Charles Larry Saffold.
She leaves to cherish her memory children: Norman (Mary) Saffold of Dothan, Alabama, Helen Jean (Calvin) Darby of Luverne, Alabama, Harry E. Saffold, Johnny (Phyllis) Barber, Sandra K. Barber and Sheila Barber all of Dothan, Alabama; twelve grandchildren, fourteen great grand's; sister: Emma Long of Buffalo, New York; and a host of nieces, nephews; two very devoted friends: Gussie Gibson and Polly McCallister
Sister Barber was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and most Important a true servant of God!
