With her strong will to live, unwavering faith in God, and the love and prayers of family, friends, and many supporters, Cradell Valerie Asbury transitioned her earthly life on Thursday, December 7, 2017, surrounded by family and close friends.

Cradell, the youngest of seven children born to Eddie Lee Beachem and Irene Thompson-Beachem was born October 4, 1955, in Dothan, Alabama.

Cradell accepted Christ early in life as a member of New Miranda Baptist Church. She later became a member of Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church where she served until her transition. As a member of TMBC, she was a devoted member of the Senior Inspirational Choir, Matrons, Phenomenal Women Praise Dancers, Harvest Day Chairperson, Culinary staff and Pastor Prayer partner. 

Cradell attended Dothan City Schools, and graduated from Dothan High School in 1973.

Cradell, a selfless, lover of people devoted her life to loving people, especially children. After traveling the world, the Asbury family returned to Dothan in 1994. Possessing a true servant's heart, Cradell began working at the Diversion Center. Helping young people was Cradell’s passion in life. She later opened Cross Roads Home for Girls to help young ladies reform and rebuild their lives. She was more recently employed at Vision Works. Cradell was a devoted member of the Order of Eastern Star.

Preceding her in death are her loving parents and her sister, Irvey.

She leaves to cherish her memory and to continue to celebrate her life numerous surviving family members. She had many roles in life.

Wife to a loving husband of 39 years: James B. Asbury of Philadelphia, PA.

Mother to her sons: Byron Beachem El of Jonesboro, GA and Brannon Asbury of Atlanta, GA.

Grandmother to her grandchildren: Supreme Beachem, De’Aja Asbury, Zion Beachem, Shania Beachem, Jhustice Beachem, Braylon Beachem, and DeSean Asbury.

Immediate family: 4 sisters, 1 brother and 1 brother in law: Alice Beachem-Allen, Zennie Beachem and Marietta Beachem-El-Amin of Dothan, AL; Annie L. Beachem-Frazier (Thayes G.), of Conway, SC and William Beachem of Ft. Walton Beach, FL.

Beloved nieces and nephews: Alford Allen, Denise Frazier, Thayer Frazier, Towanda Frazier-Little, Yvonne Beachem-Ward, Tyronne Beachem, Khalis EL-Amin, Dion Meadow, Bernae Ward and Isaiah Ward.

Beloved sister-friends: Evelyn Williams, Alice Duke, and Cynthia Glasgow.

Other family members: Unfortunately, too many beloved cousins and godchildren to list or even count.
