Charles Larry Beatty affectionately known as “Poppie”, by his family and friends, was the fourth child of 5 siblings born to Mrs. Neseree Miller Beatty & Mr. Samuel Kiffen Beatty on February 8th 1950 in Maryland. He accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at a young age. Charles graduated from Fairmount Heights Highschool. He joined the United States Army in 1970. He joined St. Walden Missionary Baptist Church in 2012. He recently married the love of his life Mrs. Emma Kinlaw Beatty on October 28th 2017.
Charles served in the U.S. Army as a Visual Information Chief/Still Photo & Motion Picture Specialist from 1970 until and honorable retirement in 1991. Charles honored his country by serving in the Vietnam War. He earned many medals and accommodations-Republic of Vietnam Campaign medal & Gallantry Cross, Air Force small arms expert, Bronze Star medal, Army accommodation medal, Meritorious service medal, just to name a few.
He enjoyed working with his hands. He has completed several to scale models of airplanes, helicopters, and several pieces of hand painted artwork. He loved working in the yard and has the BEST lot on Chevrolet Street!!! He has continued his love for photography. He has taken many portraits and pictures of special occasions and family gatherings. He has a great display of his favorite photos on the walls of his den where his hand built aircraft are hung with such pride.
On Tuesday November 28th, 2017 after a recent hospitalization the Lord called his angel home. His final wishes were honored, and he passed at home in the loving care of his family.
Preceding him in death: his loving parents Mr. Samuel and Neseree Beatty; Sister Dana Coleman; Brother Douglas Beatty; Aunt Katie L. Everett; Nephew Andrew Foreman; Former wife Margaret Beatty.
Charles leaves to cherish his memory: His beautiful wife Emma Beatty; beloved children and stepchildren Tamikka (Henry), Shuraun (Alex), Lerwanna (Nick), Junior, O’Kendrick (Tammy), Shareka (Ren), Courtney (Tiffany), Faith the baby girl; Godson Darren; Grandchildren Zeriauna, Daayeah, Damarion, Ashton and Antonia; Sisters Mabel Meacham and Barbara Foreman; Brother Donald; Many beloved sister and brother in-laws, special nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
