Billie Gene Taplin

United States Army Retired Sergeant First Class Billie Gene Taplin of Dothan, Alabama passed away on Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at the age of 84 years olds. He was born to the late Mandola and Le Atta Taplin in Lyons, Texas on August 6, 1933.

Billie accepted Christ as his savior early in life. He received his education in Lyon Texas and then enlisted in the united States Army where he served 20 years for our country. He was a proud veteran and loved all branches of the Military. He encouraged two sons to enlist. Billie was a hard worker when he retired from the Army and he continued to work well into his seventies.

Billie loved the Lord and showed it by attending church and in his free time he would sing with the gospel group “The Holy Wonders”, until he fell sick. Billie was a loving, caring and upbeat person who would help anyone if he could. Billie will be missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sister and one brother.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his loving and devoted wife: Linda Taplin of Dothan, Alabama; fifteen children that will miss him dearly: Cynthia Cheatham-Taplin, Michelle Perkins, Daniel Taplin, Terry Duncan, Ester Henrix all of Arizona, Billie Taplin, Jr., Linda Taplin and Christopher Knight of California, Anthony Taplin of Washington State, Sharon Shelby of Georgia, Veronica McKnight, Francis Corbitt, and Kaylan Knight of Alabama, Tony Knight of Vermont and Derrick Knight of Germany; thirty grandchildren and twenty-seven great-grandchildren; two sisters: Geraldine Kermitt and Ann Taplin; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
