Alex Jerome Carter

Mr. Alex J. Carter, age 63, of Abbeville, Alabama departed this life on Thursday, December 12, 2019.

Visitation will be Friday, December 20, 2019 from 3 PM to 5 PM at the funeral home.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 21, 2019 at 1 PM at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Abbeville, Alabama.

Burial will immediately follow the service at the church cemetery.

Obituary
Alex Jerome Carter was the fifth of eight children, born to the late Willie Lee Carter, Sr. and Ida Mae Carter on November 8, 1956.

He was preceded in death by his father (Willie Lee Carter, Sr.), half-sister (Laura Bell McNealy), and brothers (Willie Lee Carter, Jr. and Jerry Lee Carter).

He departed this life on Thursday, December 12, 2019 at Flowers Hospital in Dothan, AL.

Alex was baptized at an early age at Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church, Abbeville, AL. He attended the Henry County Training School and for his last two years he attended and graduated from Murry County High School in Chatsworth, GA. He was employed at Sony Inc. Dothan Al. for 20 years. He also served in the US Army and Army Reserve. His love was his children, family, friends, racing motorcycles and fast cars.

He leaves to cherish his memories his mother: Ida Mae Carter, Abbeville, AL; two sons: Sherman (Meredith) Spann, Abbeville, AL. and Alan Jerome Carter, Dalton, GA; one stepdaughter: Camillia (Damon) Petty, Montgomery, AL.; six grandchildren: Kadarrius Carter, Dalton, GA. Aden, Alec, and Adelyn Spann, Abbeville, AL. Damon Jr. and Donovan Petty, Montgomery, AL; one great grandson: Jensen Carter, Dalton, GA; three sisters: Cassie (Richard) Wiggins, Carl Newsome, and Mary Chappell, all of Abbeville, AL; two brothers: David (Brenda) Carter, Dalton, GA. James (Abigail) Carter, Moultrie, GA. As well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and host of other living relatives and friends.
