Venecia "Neat" Granger Parker, a beacon of light and love In every life she touched, transitioned peacefully into eternity on April 17, 2024. Born into this world on June 16th, 1957, in Ashford, Alabama, Neat was the cherished daughter of Lessie B. Granger and the late Frank Mullins. Neat was the guiding star and eldest of ten siblings, she set a loving example and blazed a trail of kindness, laughter, and unwavering faith for her family to follow.

Her early acceptance of Christ and steadfast commitment to New Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church were the cornerstones of her existence. She lived her faith through action, touching lives with her generosity of spirit and unwavering support for her community.

Neat's professional life was characterized by compassion and dedication. She began her career as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in Newark, New Jersey, where she provided care and comfort to the sick and shut-in. Later, she continued her calling at Laurel Oaks Behavioral Health Center in Alabama, where for nearly two decades, she made an indelible impact on the lives of staff and children alike. Known for going the extra mile, Mrs. Parker ensured that the needs of all children in the facility were met with love and attention

Neat's journey through life was one of devotion and service. She found her life partner in Lonnie L. Parker, and together they shared a bond of love and companionship for over three decades. Their union was a testament to the power of love and partnership. Even after Lonnie's passing, Neat's love for him remained a guiding force in her life.

Throughout her life, Neat wore many hats, each with grace and honor. She was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. Her presence was a gift to those who knew her—she never met a stranger, and everyone she encountered became part of her extended family 

and circle of friends. Neat's ability to bring joy to others was unmatched, and her capacity for love was as boundless as her infectious spirit.

Her interests were as varied as they were heartfelt. Neat poured herself into her family, her cooking, and her faith. She was the embodiment of the quote by American poet Maya Angelou, "I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel." Indeed, Neat made everyone feel cherished, valued, and loved.

Although Mrs. Parker was preceded in death by her cherished husband: Lonnie Parker; her father: Frank Mullins; her grandmother: Kate Granger; her aunts: Mary Granger, and Ruby Lacy; her uncles: Leon Granger, and Willie Granger; and her beloved siblings: Patricia Granger, and Tyrone Granger -  Neat's legacy is one of unbroken connections and enduring love.

Venecia "Neat" Granger Parker is survived and lovingly remembered by her mother, Lessie B. Granger; her son Willie (Lisa) Jackson; grandchildren Jahiem Jackson and Kyle Teague; her siblings: Luretha (Edwin) Flowers, Bobbie Ray Granger, Brenda (Charlie) Nix, Sharon (Kenneth) Reynolds, Timothy (Annie) Granger, and Celestine Granger; her aunts: Dorothy (James) Granger and Katie Granger; two special nieces, Ornecha Granger and Rakia Leggett; and a host of relatives and godchildren: Lisa Rambo, Teriq Ricks, and James Truitt who were blessed to call her family.

In remembering Neat, we recall a woman who was loving, funny, and spirited. Her legacy is one of joy, compassion, and unrelenting positivity. Today, as we bid farewell to Venecia "Neat" Granger Parker, let us honor her memory by embracing the love she shared so freely and by continuing to spread the warmth and light she brought into this world. Her spirit will forever remain a guiding force in the lives of those she touched.
