Obituary for Betty Johnson Blackmon

Betty J. Johnson Blackmon was born to the late J. B. Johnson and Robbie Lee Danzey of Haleburg, Alabama on July 15, 1951.

Betty graduated from Northside High School in Headland, Alabama in 1969 and attended Wallace Community College in Dothan, Alabama and majored in Secretarial Science.

In 1974, she married Homer L. Blackmon of Dothan, Alabama where they remained happily married for forty-three years.

She joined Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Webb, Alabama where she was a member until her death. She spent over twenty years as a Customer Service Assistant for Kmart retail store where she was recognized for excellent service and customer’s satisfaction.

She departed this life at her home on Saturday, July 29, 2017.

“Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but Betty was one of these special angels that God blessed her with beautification inside and out.”

She leaves to cherish her memories a husband, Homer Lee Blackmon, Dothan, Alabama; three sons: Jeffrey Blackmon (Shaletha) and Christopher Blackmon both of Dothan, Alabama and Kenneth D. Blackmon (Keanna) of Columbia, South Carolina; two grandsons: Cory Banes of Dothan, Alabama and Christopher Blackmon, Jr., of Panama City, Florida; a sister: Linda Johnson, Jersey City, New Jersey; four brothers: James Johnson, (Joy) Tucson, Arizona, Tommy Johnson (Juanita) Johnson, Plano, Texas, Robert Johnson, Villa Rica, Georgia and Anthony Johnson of Dothan, Alabama; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

We dedicate a special goodbye to Cora Lee McKenzie who were always by her side during her long illness.

She was preceded in death by her father, J. B. Johnson; mother, Robbie Johnson; a sister: Merris Reynolds; brothers: Billy Johnson and Christopher Johnson; and her mother-in-law: Bithan Blackmon.
